Heather Klassen
Technologist, B.Tech, Dipl.T
In a room filled with active, provocative minds, Heather brings a gift for seeking out and articulating the core vision that helps the Shift team bring projects to life.
A proud graduate of BCIT’s Architectural Science Degree program, Heather embraces a contemporary approach to design—a belief in the convergence between conceptual creativity and technical precision, between art and architecture. With a deep respect for architecture’s power to influence feelings and experiences for both the user and the wider community, Heather is committed to ensuring that all Shift projects make a positive contribution to shaping the city’s cultural fabric.
In her work as a Cornelia Hahn Oberlander Research Grant recipient at the BCIT Centre for Architectural Ecology, Heather explored using landscaping to form and characterize public spaces. Her research culminated in the design and construction of a vegetated sculptural prototype that could replace trees as a method for shading green roofs.
