KEVIN WHARTon

Associate, B.Tech, M.arch

Kevin possesses the eye and instinct of an artist, along with an incisive gift for communication—with clients, with colleagues at Shift, and with construction teams. Like all gifted leaders, he makes everyone around him better.

Kevin thrives on the unique challenge of architecture: translating diverse and complex issues into cohesive building design. A successful building, he believes, is the physical manifestation of its social, environmental, and functional contexts.

Before pursuing an MArch at UBC, Kevin studied fine arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and the Ontario College of Art (Sculpture/Installation). He's taught studio courses, and three of his personal industrial design projects were featured in 2014’s American Product Design, a book celebrating the best in industrial design.

Kevin found his home at Shift in 2011, after spending eight years with some of Vancouver’s most respected architectural firms. As a designer and project lead, Kevin thrives on the firm’s close-knit, collaborative atmosphere—a space where he can mentor young talent, and also learn from them.
